To create a portrait in which the best achievements of picturesque schools for a centuries-old history of development of art of portrait painting are used. Artist Victor Deryugin uses these achievements for creation of portraits of our contemporaries that gives the most expressive characteristic of the painted person, his personal qualities, and to transfer his own world.
 At the first stage of work the basic artist`s attention is directed on searches of the color decision and fastening of the first (as a rule the most true impression from a nature) and the composite decision of a cloth as a whole.
For this purpose the artist makes a series of sketches in a pencil, determining features of a structure of a head and a figure, choosing the basic composition of a portrait in view of that plan which appears during this work as result of studying those he paints.
-This process can take lots of time creating significant number of etudes which include:
-Definition of the general form of a figure, axis of an emphasis, revealing of its movement;
-Searches of a proportional parity of parts and the whole;
-The detailed characteristic of a nature, look, age peculiarities, occupation characteristics, selection of details of an interior with the purpose of the most full disclosing shape of the person.
At the following stage the artist on the sheet of a paper appropriate to the sizes of a portrait on a canvas specifies the basic composition of a portrait without excessive details and the found decision is transferred to the canvas.
Before the beginning of work as paints on a canvas on small etudes the artist finds the basic color decisions of a portrait with the account of already revealed plan
Starting work above a portrait the canvas becomes covered by paints on all surface simultaneously with a gradual deepening of the form and color on a crude colourful layer.
